Why do you need my trip details?

We use your trip details to check that you're eligible for tax-free shopping.

To use Wevat, you must:

  • have your permanent address outside France and the European Union;

  • be visiting France for less than six months; and

  • be departing France for a non-European Union country from one of the Wevat supported departure points.

What if my trip details change?

You can change your trip details anytime in the Profile section of the app.

Why is France the only destination available?

Currently, Wevat only provides tax free shopping for France. We're hoping to expand to other EU countries soon, so watch this space!

Which countries are in the European Union?

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, and Sweden.

Please note: Residents of the Principality of Monaco; and the French overseas territories of Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Martinique, Mayotte and Réunion are not eligible for a VAT refund on shopping in France.

I'm leaving France to visit another EU country - can I use Wevat?

Unfortunately, no. We currently only offer tax refunds for visitors leaving France for a non-EU country. If you're departing France to visit another country in the EU before flying home, you won't be able to get a tax refund with Wevat on your French shopping.

However, you may still be able to get a VAT refund on your French shopping at your final point of departure within the EU using local tax refund agents.
